Granny turns 80, and the Farkles party in GA

Hey!

Just a quick note and a link... Some of the Farkles gathered in Georgia in July to celebrate the 80th birthday of our beloved granny, and while we were there, we had a lot of fun, too. I uploaded a bunch of pictures to Facebook this afternoon, and here's the link if you'd like to check them out:

Note to the FB Farkles, this album is only viewable on Facebook to the Farkles; I set it so that it's not open to others because there are some, uh, interesting pictures in there and wasn't sure if everyone wanted their friends to see them. So, if you're not my friend on Facebook (you should be! ;), you can only see these pictures by clicking on the link above.

Hope everyone is having a great summer! Feel free to send me updates on your summer activities to post here for all the Farkles to enjoy :)

Granny goes to Beaterville

Last weekend Susie & Granny made the 8 hour trek back to Beatrice to visit friends and to take in a performance at the theater. When the theater found out she was coming, they decided to host a reception so that the current Community Players could meet the original Mary Ellen Morgan. (An award is given out each year in her name.) They had a great time catching up with old friends and visiting all the sites.

For your listening pleasure...

Our very own Emily & Andrew did very well at the Solo & Ensemble Contest this year. My technical guru was able to convert this video and post it to YouTube so that we could share it with all of the Farkles near and far. Without further ado...

Here is Andrew's barbershop quartet. They got a 1

Here is Emily's duet. They received a 1+ and an invitation to compete at state.
And, finally, Andrew's solo. He received a 1 on this as well
Congrats to Emily & Andrew!

Farkle '09 in pictures (Part V)

The finale of Farkle Christmas! On the 30th, most of the Farkles left for home :( Jon & Heather stayed for a few more days of Farkle fun. One of the items on their Farkle to-do list was hitting the hills for a little sledding action. Zachary had never seen snow, and Brianna had been in snow for a little while during Farkle '05 (and probably doesn't remember it), but sadly, we didn't have much that year. This year, lack of snow was not an issue!!

Susie & Grace ready to head down:

On New Year's Eve, Granny had enough with cooking, and she treated us all to a lunch on the town! It was fun to get out, and the food was delicious :) Here are the Wimmers at Red Robin:

3 generations! They don't look like they belong together at all, do they? ;)
After lunch, we did some shopping and headed back to Susie's for a night of snacks and games. Mark joined us! It's a Brianna sandwich!!
And some random pictures from earlier in the week: MooMoo trying to get in good with the younger generation of Farkles:

And that's all I have for Farkle pics of '09. As you can tell, many of these pictures came from the parents of the little kids, which is why there are so many shots of them...and because they're pretty cute kids ;) If you have any pictures of the Farkle fun that you want to share, please send them along. And for those of you who didn't make it to Farkle '09, please send pictures from your Christmas celebrations, and I'll post those, too.
Thanks again to Marty and Susie for hosting everyone again this year! And thanks to Susie for all the work she does to make this all happen!! She's definitely the hostess with the mostess! Can't wait for Farkle '11...planning is underway already around here- we've gotten 2 gag gifts! :) Nothing to top the framed picture of Thomas' tushy, but we're working on it! Happy New Year Everyone!

Farkle '09 in pictures (Part IV)

The next day we headed to the bowling alley for some Farkle bowling.

Josh & Elissa:

Elissa & Dave (Note the number of black beads Elissa is wearing...guess she got a lot of gutter balls!)

Grace enjoyed bowling at first, but it was a long wait in between turns!

No Farkle Christmas is complete without a picture of Emily doing something silly:)
Claire had fun! Although, she wasn't quite as good at real bowling she is at Wii bowling!
Thomas & Elissa:
Steve strikes a pose...probably after getting a strike!
Maybe we've discovered the secret to Elissa's gutter balls...I think she spent more time posing for pictures than actually bowling! Here she is with Brianna.
Emily & Grace:

Heather & Claire bowling...check out Claire's technique!
The bowling champ of the little Farkles: Zachary!
Brianna got a spare!
The bowling king, Steve! With his magnificent trophy:
