I'm a little late on this one, but better late than never! Welcome to the newest honorary Farkle, Renato Oswaldo! Renato (pronounced Hey-nah-toe) is from Sao Paulo, Brazil and will be staying with the Wimmers this year. We've all really enjoyed getting to know him over the past few weeks since he arrived.
Of course, this is supposed to be an educational experience for him and for us. We've really enjoyed hearing about life in Brazil and learning a little Portuguese, and the Wimmers are going out of their way to make sure Renato gets the American experience. I offer as evidence the pictures below. Over Labor Day weekend, we all accompanied Renato to the Sauk Prairie cow chip festival where he participated in the Wisconsin State Cow Chip Throw.
Yes, that's right. One of his first American experiences was launching cow poo across a field. Foreign exchange students from around the world are going to be lined up around the block to stay at the Wimmers when this gets out! ;)
In all seriousness though, it was a fun day, and Renato is definitely a good sport who will try anything! We are excited to have him here!
Choosing just the right chip is key :)
Yay Renato! Unfortunately, his throw wasn't quite far enough to earn him a trip to the national (Yes, I said national. As in, they do this all over the country, apparently. Who knew?) competition in Oklahoma, but we're still proud of him!
